Our WM had done the secret sister exchange for a few years and we wanted to try something different. Last year I presented the idea for intercessory prayer through a prayer box exchange. Those who wanted to particpate came to our meeting with a shoe box or a box of their choosing. I got together an assortment of decorative items with which to decorate the boxes. Some of the ladies brought their own decorations. In the assortment we had buttons, fabric, ribbon, stones, bows, flowers, just anything that you can come up with to tape or glue onto the boxes. There were a bunch of creative ladies that night. They put thier name on the inside lid of their box. Just a few nights before someone came up with the idea at church for everyone to write a letter to God expressing thier needs to him. We then sealed the letter in an envelope and prayed over them. Some of the ladies placed inside the box their personal sealed letter to God along with other needs that were written down and placed in the box that was not sealed. Everyone had their own style, some were sealed and some were expressed openly. We then drew names and each lady took a box home and she was instructed to pray over that person's needs for a month. It is still ongloing and we keep the boxes that we exchange for a month till our next meeting and then we exchange again. Our secretary keeps track and does the distribution each month and she does it in a way so that we get a different person's box each month. Also before bringing the box back at the end of the month everyone puts a little gift (like from the Dollar Store) in the box and we all check our boxes for this little gift before it gets passed on to our next prayer partner. I have 2 unsaved sons and 5 unsaved brothers so I taped a picture of these family members to a sheet of paper and wrote on the paper their names and the need of salvation along with any addictions that they had. I have one brother that is an alcoholic so he needs deliverance from that. I even placed in the box shirts that belonged to two different sons that need salvation......something tangible. My sons are grown and the shirts were worn by them when they were small boys still at home. It was just my way of doing it.
Like I said our intercessory prayer boxes are still being exchanged and the ladies have really enjoyed doing this. We have seen situations changed and family members saved with this intercessory prayer box exchange. Prayer changes things and we all need each other's prayers and support.

When the ladies take home the box are they allowed to open it up to know what is in the box? or is it sealed with the prayer in it?
I really like this ideal, can you have several prayers in the box?
