May 13 is my day to have this all done by. I have been working hard behind the scenes . Getting decorations all together. The flowers are all candy flowers. I have a arch planned with some red and yellow flowers. If I get the little fairy dolls I will add them to the arch. I have planned two lemon trees to go on ether side of the arches. WHite lattaces are part of the decorations. Yellow plastic table cloths on top of white table clothes. Yellow and green candy center pieces. they are flowers in a little green vase with baby breath to add a little more color to the palet . There will be a round circle plastic disk under the center pieces that looks like ice. they are circles cut out of light covers. I have flower confetti that are going to be sprinkled to add a little more color to the tables as well. We are thinking about green plates and cups to add more fun to the table . Then we will have tea cups for people who want tea for this tea. Thoughts are still running in my head. Still have to get the table ware but have all but 3 table cloths the store didn't have anymore but I need to go back and check. If not I thought I might get red for those three tables since the them we have added to the whole thing is Love and friendship. I have chocolate center piece flower arangements for some door prizes too. we have small and big door prizes and some games plan. A guess speaker for the first time that is from out of town. Advertisements starting to go up. I got football shape wood pieces for a .25 and painted them to look like lemons and added ribbon and leaf , then a few small flowers. They have ladies tea and the date on them . I hung them in all the bathrooms and a few other places. Oh yes we are having pictures under the arch for mother daughter photos we have done every year for the past few years. If you all have extra ideas to add. I am game . My mind is running a mile a minute working on this functions. One month to go till the day soon.

TRying to finish up things this Sunday we start selling tickets. We got a roll of tickets with two to each ticket. That way they can write there name on one of the tickets and then Keep the other. Have any of you done this or how do you all do the tickets you sell for your events

I may have missed something when reading your post but what are the tickets for? Is it something to do with the door prizes?

The tickets are both for the drawing and to get into the tea. When they purchase the tickets they fill it out and we keep the other half. This way we can count how many people we have. I also made a form to put who purchased a ticket. If they have any special request for a table etc. Then I made a form for the people who are selling the tickets. This form is to tell us who has a tickets to sell and how many they took to sell. With there name and phone number to contact them back. I put Adult space and a child space. so we can get a total of them as well. I am up for any other ideas to share with the committee. Thankyou all for your help.

Well here we go . I am so excited. Our guess speaker sound really neat . She is from atlanta ga she is the founder of Cross trainers a Christ centered health and aerobics ministry. We have sold almost 50 tickets to the tea. We had 80 last year for the tea. I am making phone calls to the ladies as well as a couple of other churches. I am hoping we have a higher count . We are planning on many more than that for the tea. We have 15 tables with 8 at a table. I would love to have to run around to get more tables . I have this sunday for more people to sign up and the Wednesday before the tea is the latest we can take names. Please help me pray that we get at least our 120 ladies.

Just to help out with the pictures.
The decorations are real easy . Christmas garland works wonders with flowers stuck in them . The angle is a communion glass cup. which was made into angels for the favors. The church was going to throw out a whole bucket full of them. They were all different kinds of them. The napkin holder are real cool on the papers . made out of ribbon and an old fashion looking button. The center pieces were the tea cup with the flowers . The boxes were made to set tea bags into. So there were tea at each table. This gives you all an idea of what I do. Hope it helps some of you .

I am going to post the details of our Lemon event in this post to keep it all in one place for easier reference. This is an article I wrote about it for a newsletter.

We used the theme “When Life Gives You Lemons….Make Lemonade”. This is a very fun and colorful theme and very appropriate for summer.

Following are some of the specifics of what we used:

Decorations - These were done in Lime Green and Lemon Yellow. We alternated green and yellow tablecloths and used white doilies as placemats. Centerpieces were made from lemon buds. We finished out the table decorations by scattering fresh lemons and limes down each table. I stumbled across the cutest paper plates….they were square instead of round and looked like a plate full of lemons or limes. We hung these on the wall and everyone thought they were pictures! The centerpiece for the food table was a glass bowl filled with lemons and limes. To add to the festive color we asked the ladies to wear their prettiest lime green or lemon yellow outfit.

Favors – I found a store that sells M&M by the color. I bought the yellow and green and put a few into a tulle bag. I attached a little card that said “When life gives you lemons and limes, pretend they are yellow & green M&M’s and eat them anyway.”

Meal – We tried to do all things lemon without overdoing it. Lemon rotisserie chicken was provided by the church. The ladies signed up to bring sides. For dessert we had lemon pound cake, lemon meringue pie, lemon bars, and something chocolate to round things out.  The beverage for the evening was of course, lemonade.

Devotion – the underlying theme for this meeting was the “Promises of God” and how God’s promises sustain us during the times of “lemonade” in our life. I used the recipe for lemonade (Lemon Juice, Water, Sugar) as the outline for the devotion.

Doreen and Jodi,

I read your posts and looked at the pictures and got a little teary. Women's Ministry is not always easy. To design and set up even a simple event can take hours of planning and work. Frankly, our work is often taken for granted. (we make it look so easy!) But I truly believe that women are refreshed, encouraged, and blessed by what we do. I think it says to them, "I am worth extra care and attention. I have value." I want to encourage both of you - the pictures show how hard you both worked and how beautiful everything was. I know you have sown into your ladies' hearts in ways you can't even see. Thanks for the inspiration!
