I just posted on the introduction area and now want to jump right in.
Next Monday night is our ladies meeting and we are going with a theme of "All about YOU!" I made home made invitations by getting card stock pieces from walmart and taking a paint pen and writing YOU on the cards. Then with an ink pen I wrote out the invitations. Every invitation was different, and unique(just like YOU).
We are asking the ladies to bring a dish with a "U" in the name of the dish. They all were a little puzzled at first but I gave them some examples of QUick Potatoes, GUacamole, FUn Chicken, Coffee PUnch. etc.
Im not exactly sure about decorating...but am thinking some hanging U's and YOU's and trying to find some unique things to sit on the tables. Not sure yet on a focal point either...thats where you all come in. Anyone have any ideas? Our speaker is talking on being YOU... who God made YOU.. and being happy with God has done with YOU.
When the ladies are finished eating I will give them a piece of paper with everyones name on it.....and then they must write down one word or phrase that they think of when they see that person. I will then take them all up and later make each lady a paper with all her words or phrase on it and they wont know who said what about them....very unique!
So any other ideas going on in your head?

The first thing that popped into my head about being unique and being you was mirrors. You could use them on the table as centerpieces??? _________________ ~Jodi |

Hi Marla,
You could do the icebreaker thing where you wrap up a box like a present. You place a mirror in the bottom of the box. The box has to have a lid on the top that you can wrap up separate than the box. Put a large bow on top of it. (I always use a shoebox--Works well)
As your ladies or arrive. Tell them that you have something very special in the box and ask them if they would like to see what it is. We all are curious so everyone always wants to see. Tell them it's something unique that God gave as a special gift to the world. I've done this with kids sometimes, and I always tell them it's kind of like a magic box because when they look inside they'll see something that no one else will see when they peek inside. The gift God made to the world is just so unique--it's one of a kind. Lift the lid for each lady to peek inside. Tell them not to tell anyone what they saw in the box so that no one is expecting a mirror to be there.
I've done this around Christmas to show that the reason Christ gave His son as a Gift to us is in the box. _________________ Julia

Thank you both....I had thought about getting big mirrors...free standing mirrors to put around the room....so this is great confirmation of that idea.
Keep those ideas coming!
