I've just recently started a Ladies Ministry in my church and our first "Ladies Night Out' was the end of June with 30 ladies in attendance. We had a salad supper and watched the latest Chonda Pierce DVD. There were ladies ranging in age from their early 20's to age 91. Everyone had a wonderful time and is anxiously awaiting our next fellowship.

The goal for this ministry for now is to just have fun and fellowship with each other and to focus on that alone. We're always so busy trying to be sure everyone else is taken care of that we tend to forget about ourselves. The Lord dealt with me for a long time before I finally listened and took that leap of faith. We want this time to simply be 'a couple of hours away from everything else and just have a fun time with other women' ..... no phone, no children, no pets, etc. It has been a huge blessing for me!!!!

Our next meeting is scheduled for July 31st and I've titled it "Games And Grub". We will have 10-12 games set up all around the Family Life Center and everyone can choose what game they'd like to play. Hopefully, with card games, dominoes, and board games, there will be something for everyone. The 'grub' will consist of 6-foot sub sandwiches, chips, iced tea and - for dessert - homemade ice cream and brownies. I've also got some door prizes to give away ---- a couple of TV Guide Crossword puzzle books, a couple of card games (Hit the Deck & Phase 10), a jigsaw puzzle, and a travel-size sports trivia game. I'm thinking about putting together a couple of 'snack bags' with different snacks that you might eat while playing games.

Does anyone have any other ideas that I might use? Nothing elaborate, please....... At the present time, I have no budget for these meetings so everything comes out of my pocket.

Thanks......... Lexa

This sounds like a great idea. Thanks for posting the details. I don't have anything to add as it sounds like you have everything covered. Mr. Green

As for paying for everything from your pocket...have you considered having the ladies pitch in on the food (different ladies bringing parts of the meal) or taking up an offering and using that money to offset the expenses? Just some thoughts! I know these things can add up. Very Happy

Lexa,

Would love to hear how this turned out! I've been considering have a "Family Game Nite" in October with cards, board games, dominos, etc. but wasn't sure how it might turn out. My ladies were wanting to do something with the family and I thought the Game Nite theme would be perfect, now thanks to your ideas I'm excited about getting started planning. Let us know how things went! Laughing

Just wanted to let you all know that the "Game Night" I had for the ladies went wonderfully!!!! God truly blessed our efforts!!!

For the meal, I ordered 6-foot sub sandwiches from United Market Street and had chips and iced tea. Then, for dessert, we had brownies and homemade ice cream. All the ladies chipped in $2-$3 each for the food.

Games: I had several sets of dominoes and several decks of cards for those who wanted to play games with those. I also had Uno Attack, Yahtzee, Bingo, Scattergories, and Mad Gab.

Door prizes: I had a couple of card games (Hit the Deck & another one), a travel game of Sports Trivia, a plain deck of cards, a set of dominoes, and then I had 3 gift bags with a drink and a candy bar or a bag of chips in it. I usually try to have about 8-10 door prizes.

We've had 2 "Ladies Night Out" meetings and they've both been a huge hit!! At the first one, we had all the ladies bring a salad for the meal and then we watched a Chonda Pierce video. They really enjoyed that too!!!

We average about 30-35 ladies in atttendance. I kept "putting off" that urging I was getting from God to start this ministry and -- WOW!! -- since I've finally stepped up and done what He wanted me to, He has truly blessed me thru this!!!!! Praise His Name!!!!!
