I need ideas for a summer get together with the ladies. Every month of the year our ladies are very busy working so I thought in Aug I would throw some sort of summer fling for the women of the church but I am not very creative. I need suggestions as far as decorating, games and possibly a devotional. Thanks

I am going to do one (probably in August) and our theme is going to be "Flip Flops, Friends and Fudge". I am going to decorate using flip-flops. In the invitation I am going to tell everyone to wear their prettiest pair of flip-flops. We may have some kind of flip-flop contest (haven't thought that far out yet). Our snacks will be all things chocolate. Very Happy

The devotion will be based on friendship.
I saw this theme somewhere (the original title was flip-flops, friends and chocolate but I wanted to alliterate it so I changed it to fudge ) and it just sounds like a fun summer theme.

For Jodi's idea, I remember seeing some flip-flop invitations or note cards at the Dollar Tree recently.

You could probably do this with any age group. What group doesn't like to eat chocolate? Very Happy

We did Flip flop, friends and chocolate in June as our kickoff for the summer for the women... everyone loved it.. we all wore our most unique flip flops, had all kinds of chocolate including two of the little chocolate fountains that you dip fruit, marshmellows and everything in, we had little gift bags for the women with chocolate, foot lotion, etc. in it and then we had a devotional, we also had a massage therapist who did foot massages and a manicurist who did pedicures for those who wanted them. It was a great success. We had women who came at 6 and who stayed until after 11pm. What a great night of fellowship and fun.I would highly recommend it. We were going to judge the most unique flip flops but decided to put one door prize in the goody bag and one person got a gift cert for pedicure. We also had ladies fill out a questionairre about things that they like to do (shared interest groups) like going to the movies, garage sale gals, garden girls, literature and lattes, needle night, park pals, treasure troop etc. so that we can try to place people together to do fun things and get to know each other better.. Thanks for the ideas. I love the chocolate/foot lotion goody bag idea. I found the cutest little bags at Oriental Trading...they are in the shape of flip-flops. I will put pedicure items and chocolate in these. Thanks! Mr. Green

I don't know if they still have them, but last week Target had flip-flop note pads for $1. Also, Peebles & some other retail stores were selling watches that had flip flops all around the wristband. They were clearancing them. Claires sells cute little flip flop earrings pretty cheap, too. Obviously, my daughter & I spend a lot of time window shopping...it's the cheapest way to shop Laughing

I heard a devotional entitled, "Are You A Flip Flop Christian" and it was really good. I wish I had the outline handy for you.
