I plan my Ladies Spring Banquet a year in advance. My theme for next year is "Life's a Trip!" Any suggeestions out there? I would appreciate any that you would have. This will also be our 20th year. I would like to include pictures of past banquets and our years of ministry in the church. I would like to somehow include scrapbooks, I think.

That sounds like a neat idea. I especially like the idea of bringing in pictures from the past.
When I read the title "Life's a Trip" I envisioned decorating with suitcases and travel items.

Road signs. We did a vbs with a road theme iit was very fun decoratiing. Postcards on the walls, rest area signs foor bathrooms,, detours and speed limits. Stop lights. Covered walls with maps from all over the US.

I too, had thought of suitcases and something with maps, but this gives me some "direction". Pardon the pun! lol

Speaking of direction....you could mark the room like a compass; each wall could be a direction, north, south, east and west.

Here is an idea for you. YOu can have lattace done up with different years. You can set up a table in front of it with a table cloth. ask people to borrow items to put at each area. better yet asign them an year. You said traveling . Well you walk down the road of memory. you can have a large cake with different memories on the cake til now. You have a road going down the road. At each lattace you have a special memory . If someone has an old center piece of that time frame you have that layed out. If you had different themes each time do each time frame up showing the past themes. What fun and what a conversations time. You can even have a special scavegar hunt where the ladies have to mark off the items that they find on the list .

And think of all the great teachings you can do around this theme. You can talk about changes, about stages of spiritual growth, about focusing on heaven as our home, and certainly talk about God's faithfulness and the Bible as our road map in life. You could put together a short video showing changes in the way we travel through the years. There is just a ton of potential in this theme. Very Happy

You could have some of your folks write people they know who live away and ask them to send postcards, then use them somehow in decorating.

I wonder if you wrote to someplace like a visitors center in certain cities, if they'd send you some postcards for free?

This reminded me of a joke my pastor tells. I can't remember the details exactly, but it goes something like this: A $100 bill, a $50 bill, and a $1 bill were in the bank, visiting. One asked the $100 bill where he had been. he answered, "Oh, I just came from the sporting goods store. I was used to buy some golf equipment. How about you, 50?

"Oh, I was at the mall. I was used to buy a new dress. How about you, 1?"

"Oh, you know, same old, same old. The church offering plate." Laughing
