I am planning a Mother's Day Tea for our ladies group which will include all females (young & old). We have the decorations and various tea pots and many different types of tea to sample. We'll probably go with finger sandwiches, salads, soups, & deserts. We will also have various mothers and daughters sing and may try to come up with some other type of entertainment. We have a devotion lined up. Just need some more ideas for maybe some games or ice breakers, entertainment, just other things that you might do at a tea. We thought about the hat theme where everyone just makes or decorates their own hat and wears that to the tea along with white gloves that we will have. Anyway, long story short - I need some different ideas. And we want to have FUN. Please help my simple mind expand and come up with some really neat ideas. Thanks to all

I am really into the whole "tea" thing and have thought about doing this with our ladies. I was curious as to what devotion you will be using. I know there are several tea-related devotionals, but sometimes I am not sure which one to use.
I saw an idea somewhere about teacup pincushions. A pretty thrift store teacup was glued to a saucer. The inside is stuffed and a piece of scrap fabric (velvet would be nice) was glued over this. A piece of braiding or cording was glued around the edge of the cup, covering the fabric and any chips in the cup. A small scissors was tied to the handle with the same cording used around the edge of the cup. This would make wonderful little prizes or favors. A great way to put those chipped cups to good use, too.

A fun ice breaker/game is to ask the daughters a list of questions. (beforehand if possible) Then read the answers out loud at the tea. Some of these questions would be:
1. How tall is your mother?
2. What's her favorite color/flower/food/restaurant/store/movie/activity/etc.
3. What do like best about your mother?

This is hilarious if the daughters are still children. We've had kids answer that their mother is 9 feet tall and her favorite place to shop is the toy store and her favorite restaurant is Mc Donalds. You get the idea. I personally like this one because we can learn little tidbits about each other and have fun at the same time.

Here are 2 ideas:
1) Name that Tea - have several types of tea. The only thing that identifies them for the ladies is a number. Have a slip of paper for each of them to write down the names of each numbered tea bag. You can put a few tea bags of one kind into a bowl (having a bowl for each of the kinds that they are to identify). You can have these located at a table somewhere in the room or pass the bowls around to each table. Do not mix the different teas together as the scents will mix together and they will all smell the same. A prize for the mother/daughter team that guesses the most teas correctly.

2) Tea bag toss - Like an egg toss. Since you are using hats, maybe they can catch them in their hats. It sounds easy, but the farther you get apart the harder they are to toss acurately. Advantage: no one messes up their pretty clothes.

Maybe these are not what you are looking for, but perhaps they will stir your creative juices and you will come up with something even more exciting.
