We like to give each mother a small gift on Mother's Day. I am looking for new ideas. We have done the single fresh flower for many years and have also done the small gifts from CTA.

Anyone have any fresh ideas for an inexpensive gift?

One year when our Mother/Daughter Banquet had a theme of "Picnic", we had the little girls go out and pick dandelions in the side yard of the church, and then present each lady with a dandelion. It may sound kind of tacky, but there's nothing that melts your heart like a little girl coming up to you and offering you a flower she picked! crying It's not something you'll keep, but it's a memory that you carry.

Other than that, we've done small tealight or votive candles tied up in tulle. I'm afraid I don't have too many ideas!

Love the idea of hand picked flowers but there are none in our church yard.
But the votive candle is different, maybe that will be an option. Thanks!

One year i found a great deal at AC Moore. They had picture frames that held 2 wallet sized pictures. In one side a found a sweet poem about mothers that i printed. The other side I printed "Happy Mother's Day from Community Baptist Church" They obviously could replace that with a nice photo of the family. The frames were plain so i hot glued wooden tulips that i painted in the corners. Took a little time, but they loved them!

I have an idea that is simple to craft and inexpensive. Can't post the "how to" and picture link here but if you want email me and I will direct you to the link.
Please put "tealight angels" in the subject line.

Last year we put 3-4 pieces of "Dove Promises" chocolate in a tulle round and tied with pretty ribbon. Each chocolate is individually wrapped and on the inside is a printed "promise". Our High School youth group prepared the bundles the week before and then gave each lady one as she left the service.

bensmom,
great idea.
Where can I find the "Dove Promises"? Can't say that I have seen the Dove candy promises.
You can find tulle rounds in a bundle (10-12?) at the & Tree.

I usually find the Dove Promises in the candy aisle at Walmart. Walgreens carries them as well in the bagged candy area.

Last night I found the Dove chocolates in caramel! Milk chocolate filled with creamy caramel. WONDERFUL !! they also had a printed promise on the inside of the wrapper.

Just wanted to say "thanks" to bensmom for the idea of the chocolate in tulle. This was a lifesaver. I forgot until the last minute about our Mother's Day gifts (I thought about it way back, but then completely forgot about it). So yesterday I ran to Walmart and bought the Dove candy (milk chocolate, dark chocolate and caramel/chocolate). Walmart had the round tulle in a package of 75.
I wrapped six candies (two of each) in the tulle and tied them with ribbon.

This turned out to be the biggest hit!!!! The ladies LOVED receiving the chocolate. Now the men are jealous so I guess they will get something chocolate too on Father's Day. Very Happy

Thanks!

Jodi, about thos jealous men wanting chocolate! How about buying them chocolate tools? *Grin*
Wonder if you can buy tool molds for candy? Would be cheaper to make them, maybe?

Making candy is a little ambitious for me. Very Happy I thought about just changing the package....perhaps a small brown paper bag decorated with something manly (like tools) and a Bible verse.
