Hello Ladies,
We just celebrated our first ever Pastor Appreciation Day Banquet!! Ladies, your ideas and encouragement inspired me to step out in faith and organize this banquet. It was a total success, all glory to God Here's what our WM's did: We served close to 200 people brisket, congregation brought sides. Tables were decorated with fall color leaves, fancy wrapped candy, and candles. During the meal we surprised our Pastoral Staff with a slide-show of past and present pictures of themselves. A video tape with words of encouragement from our congregation followed (taped in secret weeks in advance). Next we had each department present special gifts to their Pastors. An Office Treat Tree had goodies(candy bars, restaurant certificates, star bucks certificates, etc.) clipped all over it. The Youth Pastor was given a nice leather journal with words of encouragement written by his youth. Our Children's Pastor was given bags full of homemade cards from the children of the church along with a restaurant gift certificate. The Minister of Music was given a beautiful fall plant and a restaurant certificate by her music team. Our Deacon Board gave our Pastors a nice love offering on behalf of the church. Finally, we had an "Acts of Kindness" list in which members of the congregation signed up to do something nice for our Senior Pastors through out the month of October, ie. babysit, cook a meal for them, take them out to eat, mow lawn, etc. It was hard work, but all worth it . I believe we honor God when we honor those over us. God defenitely gave me favor, and now it is all a wonderful memory. Thank You to all those that prayed for me. BTW for those of you who wonder why I'm making such a big deal out of this. I must inform you that it's only been a couple of months since I took my first job as Ladies Ministries Coordinator, I have five children, I homeschool, and my husband works full time and is a student full time ! The bottom line is this "[we] can do all things through Christ who strenghtens [us]"!
