Just wanted to stop by and finally say hello.
I have been peeping in for awhile and just got my nerve to say hi.
I am a sahm of 3 which all are in school so I am at home with the many pets all day.
I grew up a southern babtist and accepted Jesus at the age of 12. I had a wonderful child hood and followed my life as God would have wanted it. I got to college, away from parents and fell. I got married had a baby all in a short amount of time. I lost my way and took me a while to find it back.
Needless to say the marrage didn't last, 3 years latter i met someone else we dated for a year and were married. We have now been married almost 9 years. Over the last year, i have been looking at myself and studding myself if you understand that.
My husbands family are members of the Church of Christ, and he kind of threw me into it. I felt out of place and I just quit going to church. My children contiued to attend. I then again felt lost..... I still tried to lead my life the way God would have wanted it.but I knew deep down I wasn't.
I thought I was doing the best I could with the situation but....again I wasn't.
It really didn't hit me till my 7 year old asked me mommy why don't you to go to church. Why don't you go with us and mamaw and papaw..
I didn't have an answer.
I am now trying to turn my life back to God, but I don't know where to start. See there is so much to it .... I have prayed and praying waiting for my answer and I found this website. So I guess you could say maybe you all are suppose to be my answer, a way to help guide me back.
My husband is a good man, of course we have problems but he is a good man and father. But he refuses to go to church. He doesn't want me to attend a babtist chruch. I love the people of the Church of Christ here they are wonderful and good to me. But I feel like I don't belong. I might feel better if my husband went with me. but I can't force him to all I can do is pray that he will find his way. But I need to find my way. I want and need that feeling go to the house of worship and bringing my children up in that way knowing there parents are there with them but I just don't what to do.
I would love to hear from anyone who could please help me.

Hello Bizzymomof3

I'm one of those too! Mine are 4, 5, and 17.

Glad you got the nerve to say 'hi'. We don't mind 'peeping' here. Personally, I like people to bounce around the posts awhile and see if this is where they want to be before they join.

I just wanted to say a quick hello to you. I'm getting ready to work on some projects here at home so I need to get off of the computer for awhile but I know your post was quite full and perhaps I can get back on here later in the day or tomorrow and send you an email.

Have a wonderful day!

I sure am glad that you decided to say hello. I'm a sahm, too, 3 little ones at home and one in school. We have lots of fun
It sounds like we may have a few things in common. I grew up southern baptist, too. I however was baptized at 8, but soon after realized I wasn't really saved, I never wanted to say anything, though, bc my mom was a ss teacher and my dad was the ss director, and I sang all the time as a kid growing up. I was lucky-no scratch that-I was blessed to marry my pastor's youngest son. But that wasn't until after I got pregnant my sr year in HS and embarass my family and even my small church. Anyway, I finally gave my life to the Lord after I was married, and after my husband surrendered to the ministry-so here was a pastor's wife getting saved and baptized. I was ashamed I wasted so many years trying to fake it-I knew I couldn't fool God, though.
As for your husband not going to church, my husband is a pastor, so I am futunate that I don't have to deal with that issue, but my mother was in that boat. I remember my mother taking us to church for years and being such an example for him. She prayed and prayed and one Sunday Dad just decided he'd go with us-and then after nearly 20 years of praying, he gave his life to the Lord
I certainly don't have any kind of answers as far as the Church of Christ. My belief is that if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day, all you have to do is accept that and live for Him-there doesn't have to be any denominational label.
I will be praying for you-that God will send you a friend at the church your children have been attending, or that you will feel His leading to find your own church home where you can serve and truly worship Him.

I know it is very hard to find a church that you can call home and feel comfortable in. Since you did say you accepted Christ as your Savior at the age of 12, you really need to be in a church that is Bible believing and Bible teaching. You said that you grew up in a Southern Baptist Church, basically the major difference with the Church of Christ and the Baptist denomination is that the Church of Christ believes in Baptisimal Regeneration and not Salvation through grace alone, faith alone. Baptisimal Regeneration is basically a belief that you are saved when you are baptized which is what the Church of Christ believes and promotes. That is contrary to God's Word. The bible says that, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Rom 10:13) The conditions of salvation are repentence and faith.

Salvation is the very foundation of being a Christian, so going to a church that is contrary to what God's says about salvation can't be of any benefit to you and especially to your children, because I know as a mother that you are concerned with their eternal welfare.

As you begin looking for a church, use the Word of God as a guide. If the church isn't in line with the Scriptures, then it isn't where you want to be as a Christian. Check out Statements of Faith, talk with the pastor, find out all you can. "Prove all things". Maybe the Lord will work in the heart of your husband to bring Him to His need of Christ and he will be saved and his heart changed.

I'm sure I could have written a book on this subject and perhaps be stronger on points as I feel that being in a good bible believing church is so important but I just wanted to give you a quick reply so I hope this helps somewhat.

Just email me if you wish to discuss this further as I am going to lock this topic because I feel like the traffic through here is so great (although not all join or post--these forum pages are heavily trafficed with people from all types of backgrounds and beliefs) and I feel that this is leaving open a large hole where anybody could recommend any type of church or denomination and I am responsible for what I allow to remain here. Thanks for your understanding.

BTW, we do welcome you to the board!
