If you could join me, ladies, in prayer over this...I'd be most grateful.
About 10 days ago, I had a very minor car accident.
I live on a military post and moving trucks are a common thing on our streets.
My street is particularly narrow...parking is allowed only on one side and when you come upon a car parked on the street, there is barely enough room for two-way traffic (usually one car will wait for the other to pass).
The moving trucks will often park on the "illegal" side if they need to off-load to a house on that side of the street.
This was the case that day.
Right across from my house was a huge truck and about 5 cars parked on my side of the street....creating this very narrow path for only one vehicle to maneuver thru.
As I tried to back out of my driveway (moving VERY slowly for fear of oncoming traffic I couldn't see behind all the parked vehicles), a van -- the owner of the moving company, pulled up and parked right at the end of my driveway on the "no parking" side of the street.
It was either in my blind spot or I had already looked before it pulled up.....but all I know is that I heard a sickening CRUNCH.
I had a slight brush of paint on my bumper and they had a crunched in passenger door.
The driver wasn't in the vehicle and they tell me his mother was in the passenger seat. She said she wasn't hurt.
The driver asked me to call the MP's for an accident report but after the report was filled out, he asked me if we could keep this between the two of us.....that way no tickets would be written. The MP advised that I do that since I'd get a ticket for improper backing (of course the driver of the van would get a couple of tickets for illegal parking).
My husband was unavailable and I've not been in an accident in almost 20 years. I agreed but told him it would be up to my husband who might not agree.
I felt very uneasy about it. Felt that we should have gotten the tickets and done this in a proper way. I should have listened to that feeling.
My husband did disagree and he called our insurance company to see what could be done.
My insurance company called me back yesterday.
The soft body damage done to their van door and no injuries became a claim of major body damage WITH physical injuries to the passenger.
There is also talk of the man claiming worker's comp.
The man and his mother refuse to give a recorded statement regarding the accident and my agent feels that their story and the actual damage doesn't add up.
I have no idea where this will go, but my agent said he's got a fight on his hands.
(sorry so long)
Please pray that the truth comes to light and that we all simply pay our fair share.
Thanks. _________________ Colossians 1:27 ...."Christ in you, the hope of glory." |
