I have been visiting this site for a while and have really been enjoying it, but I finally took the time to join tonight. Generally when I visit I just have a few moments to glance throughout different areas.

I am a Pastor's wife. My husband is pastor of a small church in Central Fl. He has been here as pastor for three years, although this is the church I grew up in. We have three children ages 2 (almost 3), 4 and 5. I also work full time in a Tax/Accounting office as Office Manager and Bookkeeper. As PW of a small church I am in charge of the ladies ministry, a job which I really enjoy.

Not much time for hobbies or outside interests but two of my favorite subjects to talk about are 1. personality types (my husband says I analyze everyone) 2. homebirth/natural childbirth

Glad to be a part of this forum and I am so thankful for this opportunity to glean from those more experienced and knowledgeable than myself.

Jodi

Welcome Jodi! Glad you decided to join us after "lurking" for a while! I hope you'll be able to visit from time to time and be encouraged in your ministry and walk with the Lord.

Jodi, HI!!
My childhood friend is very involved in homebirths.
She had both her kids at home and has been working on becoming a ....oh, what's it called....can't think of the name--not midwife, but someone who assists in births.

Hi
My husband and I had our son at home. My sister in law called us Hippies But I wouldn't change that experience for anything. I actually have a pretty funny story about it......I'll save it for another time.

Are you trying to think of doula? A doula does not actually deliver the babies but is there to assist the mother and family during labor. I would like to become an after-birth doula. Once mom has the baby I would like to go in and assist with household chores so mom can concentrate on the new baby and other children. This is in my long-term goals, once I retire and my own children are grown. I hope to be financially able to offer this as a ministry as opposed to charging for the service.
Concerning homebirths - all three of mine were born at home and as long as I am healty I would not consider any other option. It was a great experience for my family.

When I was in my twenties home births were not that common. But I agree if I had had more than one son I would have had them all at home.

Thanks for the welcome, HomeSchoolMom. So are you currently living in FL, or are you a Floridian that has moved out of state? If you are still in FL what part?
My husband and I are both at least third generation native FLoridians which is rare in this state. The majority of our residents are transplants.

I'm actually a GA gal who moved to Florida by way of Maui! LOL! I live a little more than halfway down the east coast.

You're right - true native Floridians are very rare! I know less than 10 people who have lived here their entire lives.
