I have been visiting this site for a while and have really been enjoying it, but I finally took the time to join tonight. Generally when I visit I just have a few moments to glance throughout different areas.
I am a Pastor's wife. My husband is pastor of a small church in Central Fl. He has been here as pastor for three years, although this is the church I grew up in. We have three children ages 2 (almost 3), 4 and 5. I also work full time in a Tax/Accounting office as Office Manager and Bookkeeper. As PW of a small church I am in charge of the ladies ministry, a job which I really enjoy.
Not much time for hobbies or outside interests but two of my favorite subjects to talk about are 1. personality types (my husband says I analyze everyone) 2. homebirth/natural childbirth
Glad to be a part of this forum and I am so thankful for this opportunity to glean from those more experienced and knowledgeable than myself.

Welcome Jodi! Glad you decided to join us after "lurking" for a while! I hope you'll be able to visit from time to time and be encouraged in your ministry and walk with the Lord. _________________ God bless,

Jodi, HI!!
My childhood friend is very involved in homebirths.
She had both her kids at home and has been working on becoming a ....oh, what's it called....can't think of the name--not midwife, but someone who assists in births. _________________ Colossians 1:27 ...."Christ in you, the hope of glory." |

Hi
My husband and I had our son at home. My sister in law called us Hippies But I wouldn't change that experience for anything. I actually have a pretty funny story about it......I'll save it for another time. _________________ ysiHn&l;

Are you trying to think of doula? A doula does not actually deliver the babies but is there to assist the mother and family during labor. I would like to become an after-birth doula. Once mom has the baby I would like to go in and assist with household chores so mom can concentrate on the new baby and other children. This is in my long-term goals, once I retire and my own children are grown. I hope to be financially able to offer this as a ministry as opposed to charging for the service.
Concerning homebirths - all three of mine were born at home and as long as I am healty I would not consider any other option. It was a great experience for my family. _________________ Jodi

When I was in my twenties home births were not that common. But I agree if I had had more than one son I would have had them all at home. _________________ ysiHn&l;

Thanks for the welcome, HomeSchoolMom. So are you currently living in FL, or are you a Floridian that has moved out of state? If you are still in FL what part?
My husband and I are both at least third generation native FLoridians which is rare in this state. The majority of our residents are transplants. _________________ Jodi

I'm actually a GA gal who moved to Florida by way of Maui! LOL! I live a little more than halfway down the east coast.
You're right - true native Floridians are very rare! I know less than 10 people who have lived here their entire lives. |
