|
|
I've been asked to do our churches Girls Wednesday night class and I'm not really sure what to do. The boy class is thinking about doing RA's mission class and I've thought about doing the GA's. But I really believe that the girls really need to focus more on the Bible and not mission fields so much. But I want to do something in which the can work on recieving awards or badges when they learn so much. If any of you have any ideas or want to share what the girls at your church do on Wednesday night please let me know.
Thanks,
Stephanie |

| What age group are you teaching? If teen age, I just finished a "combo" of Elizabeth George's book "A Young Woman After God's Own Heart" and Dannah Gresh's "And the Bride Wore White". I made out my own "cirriculum" and taught on different subjects in both of those books. The girls absolutely loved it. Of course, I used discretion in what all I used from their books. And I did obtain permission to do so. |

Stephanie,
I'm a former GA and I loved it. However, I happen to believe learning about missions is very important. Bible Study is also important but that's what Sunday school is for. I would never trade my years as a GA and I, along with some of my other former GA friends, are now mission-minded adults. Mission work is so important and if we don't get our young ones excited about it....who will be our next generation of missionaries and women's mission leaders. GA's is a great time to teach young girls the importance of praying for missionaries. Did you know many missionaries put off making major decisions until their birthday because they know GA's from all over will be praying for them? How awesome is that!? Consider it.....you won't be sorry.

PS Are you Southern Baptist? |

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm also a former GA girl (camper and all) and like you I feel the same way. But many of kids on Wednesday night doesn't come on Sunday morning or night. So with that being the case I really feel that some type of Bible type study would be better for them at the moment. I am Southern Baptist and I love what GA's teaches about missions. I'm torn on really what to do. Maybe there's away I can do both in one night. Just pray for me that God will show me His plan for this class.
Thanks,
Stephanie |
