I need some help with this, and I'm hoping to tap everyone's extensive knowledge. I've been doing our church bulletin for a number of years, and obviously with time I have run seriously low with ideas of articles, jokes, etc. to put in it. I need some new stories (serious or funny, but short), humor, etc. to give it (and me!) a fresh, new look. I'm hoping you'll post your favorites and/or any ideas you may have. Thanks a bunch! _________________ "If the Lord leads you to it, He will get you through it." |

I don't know if this is the kind of thing you are looking for, but this was in my mail this morning and I thought it was cute:
My husband's uncle thought he had conquered his problem of trying to
remember his wife's birthday and, also, their anniversary. He opened an
account with a florist, provided that florist with the dates and
instructions to send flowers to his wife on these dates along with an
appropriate note signed, "Your loving husband."
His wife was thrilled by this new display of attention and all went well
until one day when he came home he saw a bouquet, kissed his wife and said offhandedly, "Nice flowers, honey. Where'd you get them?" |

That was tooo funny, Bramblerose! With your permission, I'll email you my email privately, and you can pass everything you want to on to me, lol
That joke reminded me of the newlywed who was at the airport and wanted to get something for his new bride on the way home, so he picked up a mug that said "I love you", and had it wrapped. When he got home she was just tickled at his thoughtfulness until she turned it around and it said "Grandpa".
Have a great day in Him!

That's fine, Faye -- we can probably exchange e-mails through the private messages.
The "Grandpa" mug was funny!! |

Here is a website with lots of poems and things for church bulletins. There are a few Top 10 lists and things like that too. The lady that started it was a pastor's wife, who has since went to be with the Lord, but her husband has kept her site online with all the work she did. Her goal was to collect as many things for church bulletins that she could.

Likely anyone doing anything like this for July 4th already has it done, but just in case, here's one:
A father took his five-year-old son to several baseball games where “The
Star-Spangled Banner” was sung before the start of each game.
Then the father and son attended church on a Sunday shortly before
Independence Day.
The congregation sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and after everyone sat down, the little boy suddenly yelled out, "PLAY BALL!!!" |

What a hoot! Sure shows you how often that dad took his son to church, now doesn't it? _________________ "If the Lord leads you to it, He will get you through it." |

That was a neat site, Julia! Thanks for sharing. I mentioned in one of the posts that went missing that I do a monthly newsletter for our ladies group, and I'm definitely bookmarking this site.
