There is a lady in my church is in prison for a minor crime. She is in a half-way house right now and is working fulltime. She can see her family on a few occassions, and can get 'free time' away from the half-way house for church, but she has not been able to spend the night with her family for a little over a year. She rededicated her life back to God while in prison and during that time her husband and 2 of her children have become Christians (the 3rd child is only 1 year old). She is an awesome lady and everyone in church has supported them during the whole time she was in prison and even now while she is in the half-way house. Her sentence is over in August and she will be able to be home again. The women's ministry team that I am apart of would love to do something special for her and her family. We will probably have a party or potluck at some time, but would like to do something more. We want it to be a surprise, so it will be hard to ask her what she needs without letting her know. We plan to talk to her husband, but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Thanks so much.
Trish

What about a weekend getaway just to be with her family??
I know you can get really nice hotels for really cheap on priceline.com we just went to Los Angeles and stayed in a 3 star resort for 50.00 a night but you can stay cheaper we went a day ealier and stayed for 42.00 a night..
You could make up a basket with all kinds of goodies and send them away for a nice little weekend away.
I also think that she'll need your women's ministry team to be very supportive when she does come home. Remember alot of things happen behind the jail doors. |

Wow!
That is so awesome! I think I would have a huge banquet for her! I would use like a Rededicated to Chirst theme and just throw a huge blow out. It is so awesome that she has done this! And that her family is also commited to Christ.
What other ideas have you come up with, maybe I can help!
God Bless!

Thanks for the ideas. I like the theme idea for the 'party'. And a weekend trip away is a good idea, but I think she is looking forward to being home. There is so much that she has missed out on while she was gone. I am still stumped for other ideas. All my ideas that first came to mind like, the church making meals, cleaning the house, etc; seemed good at first, but again, I think she is looking forward to getting into the 'norm' again. My pastor's wife is in a bible study with her and is going to feel for ideas without letting her know what is going on.
Please keep sending your ideas. Thanks ladies.

Depending on how long she's been away from home, you guys could throw her a "Housewarming" Party. It could be just like a conventional housewarming party, only it would be like she's being welcomed home again. _________________ I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Thanks again for your ideas. I guess she has been able to be home on weekends. So she has enjoyed that. Her release date is August 4th, so that night after prayer meeting at church we will have a surprise party. People are bring in cheesecake for dessert. It should be fun. She is anxious to have this 'learning experience' behind her. Thanks again for all your ideas.
