Wondering if anyone has any ideas that would
be helpful on teaching women in church how
to be a good host, or how to be a good guest.

I love this idea. I hope you get some good responses (sorry, I am no help ) so that I can glean from them too. _________________ Jodi

I posted a response last night, and it said it went through -- but I don't see it. I'll try again and hope it doesn't come through twice.
We've had good responses in our ladies group with "open discussions" a couple of times. One time it had to do with what it meant to love your husband, another time it was about personal devotions. Ladies shared what worked for them and what they struggled with, and it was a blessing. Maybe something like that might work in this area, too (in fact, this thread is making me think about doing something like this in our group!)
Another idea would be to have a panel discussion with ladies who are good in this area, and perhaps allowing the ladies who listen to ask questions or even write out questions ahead of time or at a break to give to the ladies on the panel.
Another idea would be to have one lady who is hospitable speak. I've heard ladies speak on this at a couple of different ladies' conferences, and it was a blessing both in encouraging the rest of us toward hospitality, plus they shared specific tips, like how they planned menus. |

I read that post last night, so it WAS here! Somehow it POOFED! There have been a few problems with the board since Julia's been gone: I just always hope they fix themselves and they usually do. _________________ Sharing Jesus' love with you,

Thanks, Bethany -- I thought for sure I had seen it on here -- glad to know I am not losing it (too badly, anyway... ) Once or twice when trying to get to the site I got an error message, so I wondered if it was having some problem. |

I don't know if you are still looking for ideas along this line or not, but I spoke on this last year at a Ladies Conference. I put together a simple skit to open up with...
I had myself and two other ladies acting the scene of someone coming to visit the house of two ladies. One of them was very formal, stiff and cold, the other a happy to see ya fumbling, stumbleing, over doing it person. The visitor at the end ran out for fear of her life. It was fun
And got the point across. I also made magnets to give each person quoting 'Fogetting not to entertain stranger..." I also had some ladies, who as myself are pastor's wives, give some funny situations that had occured while they have entertained. I had some really good response and feedback. If you have already had your meeting I'm sure it was good, if not maybe this will help |
