Sunday school teachers

Lately I have had a terrible time recruting Sunday school teachers. Any creative ideas on pulling others in? I think some might be concerned that they need super training or something. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have some people that you may feel are qualified candidates? If so, maybe they can become assistant teachers. Once they are in a class and see what goes on they may be more inclined to be full-charge teachers in the future. We have started doing this in our church, especially with the college/career age. We disbanded their SS class and made each of them an assistant. That way they can learn how to teach a class without being thrown in cold turkey. We have also done this in the Ladies Class. There is an assistant in there that fills in when the regular teacher is not there. Once this class is big enough to split the assistant will take the second class and she will then have an assistant.
