Ladies,

I wonder if anyone can help on this.
I was thinking, in keeping with the "princess" theme...
the gospel has all the makings of a fairy tale story which could be read at the banquet.
(Please don't misunderstand this...I KNOW the gospel is NOT a fairy tale, and not what I am implying)
I was just thinking...

a princess in distress (we are all sinners)
an evil villian (satan)
a prince to come and save her (the prince of peace - Jesus)
His kingdom where he would take her (heaven)
And they live happily ever after......

I'm sure someone else has thought of this before...
is there a story out there somewhere I could get my hands on
or one of you talented ladies out there want to take a stab at writing something up quickly?

Just a thought.
Thanks.

I will take a stab at writing something for you. But here is one that I once heard (this is not EXACTLY the way it was told to me - it's been a long time - but it will give you the idea):

Once upon a time in a kingdom far away there was a king who had one son whom he loved dearly. When the prince came of age and wanted to wed he approached the king. It was decided that the prince would choose his bride from amongst the people of the land. But the king and the prince knew that if he went out as a prince the people would be too afraid to say no if they didn't want their daughters to marry the prince. And the prince wanted his bride to love him for himself. So the prince went into the kingdom as a lowly peasant. For three years he searched for his bride. As he searched he also worked in many different villages.
In one village he met a young woman. She was NOT a princess, some would even say that she was crude. But the prince saw something in her and knew that she would be his bride.

He courted her durning the time that he worked amongst his people. Gradually she began to change and she came to love the prince with all her heart.
The day came when the prince had to return to his father. He told the young woman who he was and that he would return for her.
The prince returned to his father's palace and began to make arrangements for his wedding day. Many days past and the young woman thought that her love had forgotten her. Though she loved him still, she began to forget what she had learned from him and some of her old habits returned.
Then one bright day a proclamation went out from the palace closely followed by the prince. "The prince was returning for his bride!" The joy of the prince and his bride at their reunion was great.

And so, this is how a lowly peasant came to be the daughter of a king.

I am SURE that I have scrambled it up but this is the gest of it anyway. Maybe you can tweak it to suit your needs. I'll send you what I write.

Thank you. Very nice. This would make a good reading for the opening and welcome. Thank you for taking the time to write.
Looking forward to what more you have to write.
Thanks again.

Are you a service, retreat, conference, or dinner ??

I just did a Princess Theme Mother's Day event and it turned out really good.

What are your plans?? Maybe I could help, writing doesn't come natural to me but if you are having a dinner or anything else let me know and I'll tell you what I did.

I love the idea you have with Jesus and Satan. Please let me know how this turns out for you. I think we may have to try this in our church!

I wish I would have checked this earlier. But I have been busy and didn't get around to it.
It is a ladies fellowship. Decorated today. Looks neat. All purple and gold (royalty looking!)
crowns and tiaras.
Gem stones. Going to use the story written above, and also "wrote" up a little fairy tale of my own... going to have them pass around a gift every time I say "king" or "Kingdom" goes through the maiden, a king who sent his son the prince, the evil villian who tries to persuade her to follow him, a friend who introduces the maiden to the prince, she follows him to the kingdom of his father the king, and she becomes a princess and they live happily ever after. Much longer than this of course.
It is this evening, just a few hours away, I will let you know how it works out.

It was great. We had such a wonderful time. I laughed and laughed. We sang and laughed and played some games. And talked about princesses and treasures and just had a wonderful time. All the ladies wore crowns or tiaras. Crowns were donated by Burger King, very nice of them. God just orchestrated it all perfectly! (as He always does, if we let Him!) It was great. And I'm still excited. A little hoarse today too...but guess It's cuz I laughed and talked so much! By the way, 1/4th of the ladies there were visitors! They had a great time too!
