Hello All!

We have a married couples night at our church. It is kind of dying and I was to ignite the fire in it. I was wondering what others are doing out there. We generally meet once a month.

I was wondering about themes, devotionals, games, food, prises, everything. Please let me know what is working for all of you.

Thanks,

Jen

Wow.
Do you do this and womens meetings too?
We have Bible study one night every week.
We have womens meetings once a month.
We have Mens meetings once a month.
Then there are the special holidays in each month get togethers.
If we had a married couples night too, wow!
It would be great but I don't know how we could fit another night in.
What do you do at your get togethers?
I'd like to learn more about it.
Sorry I don't have any ideas for you.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a few more days in every month? (week?)
haha

Guest,

Yes we do this and woman's meetings too. We also have bible study one night a week. We also do special events like once a month, which also includes the Holidays.

At the Married Couples Night we always start with food of course! Then we play a game on how well you know your partner and stuff like that. Then we have some fellowship time and then we end with a devotional. It is a lot of fun.

We always have these at someone's house in the church and they "host" the event. It is done on the 3rd Saturday of the month.

What it really cool about these nights is we can always change it. We did one night where we all went to the movies to see "The Passion Of The Christ". It was also a blast and of course we ate out.

I really want to change things up with it. I want to have themed dinners and I would like for us o go outdoors and do a campfire night and stuff like that.

I also really want to have more games and activties for the couples. I also see us hosting in our church basement because some people who want to host one do not have homes that are big enough.

Hope this helps and it is a blast I would strongly suggest you giving it a whirl at your church. We all love them.

And if anyone has any ideas for me please let me know.

Thanks & God Bless.

Jen

Well, we used to have married couples night and it was a lot of fun. It has kinda died down. I guess your encouragement and enthusiasm has turned my thoughts on starting it up again.

In the past, we have had a game night with all board games and charades (use the Guesstures game, it is really fun). We have also had special outings like dinner and play mini-golf. One time, I hosted a Luau party at my house for all the couples. I decorated all Hawaiian style. For lighting, we hung jars with candles inside the jars outside on wire across my back yard. We served shrimp kabobs, hawaiian rice (regular rice with pineapple chunks, carrots and peas) and fruit salad served in pineapple hulls. Our devotional was focused on missions. We had several games which included a hula hoop contest (even some of the men participated, it was hilarious). We had the hawaiian dance which is you have two long big bamboo sticks (we used pvc pipe and painted them) and two short sticks. One person is on either end of the two sticks. You bang the long sticks together -- one-two together then one-two down on short sticks on ground. The pipe will make a deep clug sound. The dancer (which is really just jumping) jumps in twice, jumps out twice, jumps in twice, jumps out twice. It takes some practice, but really loads of fun!!! I may have just confused you more than helped. If I need to explain myself better, just let me know.

I hope you have a wonderful time and thanks for encouraging me to get the ball rolling with our group!

Great ideas. We were trying to figure out how to include a Luau in the WM but I guess it would be perfect as a married couples night!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
