| I need help in coming up with a craft to use for VBS for teenagers. My husband will be teaching the class and I will be helping him with crafts. I would like to do something that will keep the interest of 14-15 year old boys as well as teen girls. Help!! |

Hi there,
I am doing a fun craft for some older kids at our vbs this year and it can definately be used for boys or girls: Take cd's and glue them together label to label ( use old cd's that you don't have to go and buy any, you can go to any store that has those free ones for aol free trial or whatever) then let the kids decorate them anyway they want, with glitter stickers, pictures, tie a string on them and then you have a suncatcher that they designed themselves, the shiny part of the cds catch the light. For glue I used tacky craft glue. Let the kids be creative and use their imagination. I hope this helps

I have taught the teens for years and as they get older it is harder to find crafts for them to do these are some of the things we have done in the past. I let them bring a tee shirt and design their shirt according to the theme. One year we had hand prints and they put class members names on the handprint, we have had iron on letters. One year each one of my students brought fruit each day and the last day of VBS we took it to a local nursing home. Or you could give it to elderly members of your church. You could have them bring a basket decorate it and then add the fruit or tolietries for your older members or for a local nursing home, womens shelter or childrens shelter. There are lots of things you could do with that. God Bless You in your VBS.

Hi, I know how hard it is to come up with crafts for VBS and I guess that's why my dh always put me in charge there. One year we decorated t-shirts by using farbic paint and cut out sponges. Then we did those little wooden race cars that they have to put together and paint (we raced them the last night of VBS and gave the winner a prize). Then one year a guy in the church cut out small square wood pieces in two different colors of wood and the youth made checker boards. Many of my idea's come from "Oriental trading Company, INC". They send me craft books and I just recieved one for VBS called Fun and Faith. All of the above was done by both girls and boys. The girls loved the race car idea and actually did a better job at putting it together then the boys did. Something that you might want to check on is the VBS craft books that come with the VBS supplies at the Christian book store. Hope I helped in some way. By the way Oriental trading can be found on the web at the following web address www.orientaltrading.com
Good luck find crafts,
