Hi Everyone!!
I've been reading some of your posts concerning gifts to give out at church this Sunday. Some may be giving a potted plant, a single stemmed rose or carnation, a book with a bookmark, a cassette tape or even a frameable poem. I personally liked the idea of a Blessings Jar (secret sister) or Blessings Basket (idea for Thanksgiving from Julia). Would anyone share what they are actually giving out this Sunday. We're a little church and this would be out of our pocket--for about 15 ladies. I sure would appreciate your helping me out here with some ideas--I know you're probably a little bit busy about now!!! Too bad we couldn't award all of our mothers a "Mother's Day Off"!
Also, Julia, how do I put an image on my profile? Must I have my own website to do this?
Thanks so much ahead of time for any suggestions!! |

I love going to bargin stores. Hudsons/Dirt Cheap are what we have around in my neck of the woods. So I start rumaging through the store for ideas and I came across some maginets for mothers but not enough for all the mothers in the church but there were other maginets that had a prayer on it to a special person so my husband and I had bought all that they had (14 of them) which should cover the mothers at our church. The ones that are different will be the awarded ones (too the oldest, youngest moms & the one with the most children) and the others will be given to all of them. We are a very small church (about 35 members) so it wasn't too expensive for us to purchase these items at less than a dollar a piece where the regular price was $5.00 each. I am a bargin hunter anyway...specially with six children on a Pastors salary .
I would try going to dollar stores... also the gift can also be a phone card to the oldest mother so she can call her child, who may be out of state, for free. The one with the most children can recieve a free dinner(homemade by the Preachers wife ) delivered to them at such and such time on such and such day. As for the youngest mother you can give her a certificate for a free anynight babysitter (by the Preachers Wife ).
Time is a priceless gift. Plus it can send a positive message to the ladies at your church that you are willing to be and do more for them, personally.
These are just a few suggestions for ya. _________________ Praising God Daily,
