| My best friend is getting married in November, and I want to come up with a "tried and true" recipe book for her. I have only been married 10 months so am still learning how to cook Please share any of your families favorite recipes, even if they seem easy! Thank you |

What a special gift for you to do for your friend. I have only one friend left who isn't married yet, so maybe I can do that for her too.
I have a few recipes from my mom that are family favorites and everyone I know that has tried them, love them too.
BBQ Sauce (for sloppy joes, BBQ meatballs, etc)
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbls liquid smoke
1 tsp dry mustard
Mix this with a pound to a pound and a half of browned hamburger.
'Not your usual Taco Salad'
1 head of lettuce, shredded
1 pound browned hamburger
2 1/2 cups shredded chedder cheese (more or less)
14 oz bag of taco flavored chips (Doritos brand)
1 can red kidney beans (optional)
1 jar sliced green olives (optional)
8 oz bottle of Kraft brand Cole Slaw dressing
8 oz bottle of Seven Seas brand Green Goddess dressing
Mix and enjoy.
I pray this is a blessing to your friend and that you enjoy creating this for her.

This is easy and very good. I learned it from when we were in Jamaci, they made it the night after we had taco's.
It is Lazzana noodles layered with taco meat and Cheddar cheese. That's all. My family loves it!!
I was just talking with a friend saying that we are tired of making the same dinners for our family. Then we decided to trade our "weekly easy" meals. |

This one is silly, but a family favorite! You slice a hotdog lenghtwise (maybe a polish sausage for "grown-ups") then add a layer of leftover mashed potatoes, next comes the cheese-of any kind on top.
Place in the oven to heat through. YUMMY!
Here's one for a little more sophisticated tastes-
1-1/2 lb ground beef
1 (14 1/2oz.) can whole tomatoes (undrained and minced fine)
1 (14oz) jar pizza sauce
2 cloves garlic (chopped fine)
1 (8oz.) pkg medium noodles
1 (8oz.) tub sour cream
1 (8oz.) box cream cheese (cut into small cubes)
6 green onions w/ tops, chopped fine
Brown ground beef in large skillet, drain. Add tomatoes, pizza sauce, and garlic; let simmer.
Prepare noodles per pkg. directions; drain. Add cream cheese, sour cream, and onions; mix well.
Spoon half of mixture into baking dish, top with half of sauce, repeat layers. Bake at 350 for 45 min-1 hr.
This is my Grannie's recipe from our family cookbook-"Hill"-billy Cookbook
"Hill" was our great-grandfather's last name, and we are from Arkansas. I'm sure it's a very low-fat recipe _________________ In His grip and grace-

I love this idea. I am also a newlywed married on 02/29/04. I have been cooking for my husband for almost 3 years now so I know what works with him. I have found that he is a simply man. Loves the easy things rather than the gormet. Here is a favorite of mine for Fried Chicken. If you like KFC chicken then you will love mine!
Chicken Breasts (I like the boneless skinless ones)
2 cups of milks
1 egg
Flour Mixture:
2 cups of flour
4 tbsp Salt
2 tsp Pepper
Mix milk and egg togther and dip chicken breast in. Then cover generously with flour mixture. Place chicken in a preheated skillet with enough grease to cover the bottom and come up the sides about a 1/2 inch. Cook over med-high heat until golden brown on bottom then turn over and do the same on the other side.
If you cook this just right the chicken with be moist and so wonderful! It is also great cold or cut up on sandwiches if you have any leftovers.
Enjoy!
Good luck and God Bless!
