Hello, just had to sit down and write because I know you will read this and know I need a prayer.
Today I was at a pastors wife fellowship for our state, we were to write down a prayer request that was on our hearts...I wrote that I wanted prayer for my daughter (she's 19 and a sophomore in college) - she was engaged to a young man - (2 years older than her, also in school at the same place)...they broke off the engagement previously (they were to be married in June) because they wanted to be sure they were who God had for each other (very mature thinking! ) (I was thrilled at the break up as I thought she was much too young)
They had gotten back together shortly after that, but just dating, not engaged. About a month ago she told me they had been talking marriage again, so I asked for prayer on her behalf today, praying that His will would be what they would seek after, that they would both listen to The Spirit's leading and to have wisdom in all of this.
It was an awesome time of prayer the ladies all gathered round me and laid hands on me and it was awesome!
THEN....when I got home tonite, I checked my email and guess what I found? An email from my daughter saying he had asked her to marry him and they want to get married in Dec. Well, after that prayer today, I want to say it's affirmation, and yet within me is the heart of a mother crying "she's my baby and much too young." They are both christians and very mature for their age. I know they will do well and put Christ at the center of their marriage, but I'm just a mom that isn't ready to let her "baby" go.
I want to be happy for her but I'm being selfish and sad for myself....
So ladies, no questions for you, just wanted to share that, and I knew you would be there to listen.
Thanks. I'll get some sleep and feel better tomorrow. ~Vanilla~ |

Hi Vanilla,
I usually try to glance through at least the Prayer Requests first in the evening even if I don't make it to the rest of the board. I've had a really long day and I'm extremely tired right now and I'm not sure if I actually have too much to say. Just wanted you to know I'm listening. I know things are hard when they involve our 'babies'. Just remember God knows the outcome even when we don't. I'll keep you and your daughter in prayer over this situation. May God hold you close in His care tonight.
Bless you! _________________ Creative Ladies Ministry

Thank you Julia. I haven't made it to bed yet as I have been going through the messages myself, but now as I am ready to retire for the night I thank you for your words of comfort and I know that HE WILL hold me close in His care tonight.
God Bless!

Dear Vanilla
I certainly understand your concern. But please rest in God. I, literally, made my self ill worring about my son and daughter-in-law. It was not until I finally remembered that God IS on His throne and everything IS in His control, that I began to get better. May God bless this marriage, if it is His will. May He grant you peace. Prayer is a powerful tool that God has blessed us with. I will be praying for you, your daughter and your future son-in-law.

Hi Vanilla
Just read about your daughters upcoming wedding and to give you a small word of encouragement, I met my husband when I was 16 (he was 23) at our local church, we dated for 6 weeks when we got engaged and then we married 6 months later, we have now been married just shy of 23 years and he is still the love of my life! I remember people asking him if he knew what he was doing and his reply has always been, "I prayed for the Lord to lead me to the women He would have me with so that together we could glorify Him, and He has dropped her at my feet" Because that is how we met, I fell down a set of stairs and he caught me at the bottom, and he has been helping me up from every struggle since then. I will keep you and your family in prayer, that God's will will be done, and that He will grant you peace and joy over this joyous occasion. God Bless

I was at the Christian bookstore yesterday and I saw this song and remembered reading it here. I bought the tape and I must say it is a wonderful song! True words. I went to sleep with it on my mind and awoke with it in the stereo this morning. "Sometimes I think I'm in control" wow! how true is that? "facing problems on my own...I don't know what's best for me" The whole song is me!
"Remind me Lord I'm just a glove, In which you place Your hand"...
If you don't know the song, look it up...it's great!
