We are planning our annual mother daughter banquet. We have decided to use the theme "Hats off to Mom". Need ideas for favors, invitations, devotional, games.

Hi we did this last year. I found someone in our church that had old hats.
I went with a victorina look I went to Hobby lobby and got lace table covering on a roll, and then as the centerpiece I used mirror and I found some one who had old hats and gloves. I used plate stands to hold the hats then I got a roll ofpink and white pearls and pink netting. I put them on the mirror to. I cut a piece of the netting about 8 inches long and then put a nice pretty knot in the middle. Just cut about 10 inches each of the pearls and lay them together on the mirror. I used the colors of mint green and pink I have china that is in this color so I put a coffee cup and saucer on the mirror too. Up front I called around in the church and friends until I found someone that had a full mirror on a stand and a stand that they used to make dress on and pin the dress to this stand up person you can get them a Jo ann's I sorry I don't know what they are called and them I put a pink dress I wore in a weddding on it.
The programs I went in to my card program american Greetings spirtiulal
and used a victorian lady with a Hat with those colors. I use my card programs to make my programs. I used pink cup and plates and napkins.
as flavor I went to Walmart and got little straw hats 18 to 20 in a bag for 1$1.30 sum then I glued little pins on the back and put blue ribbon and little blue flowers on them I know the blue was not with the color theme but... that is what I used.
For dinner we served
chicken breast called adoba chicken off pastorwifes.com or net I forget.
bake pots. with sour cream on the tables
green beans
red leaf Mandarin orange salad plus a toss salad if they wanted it
dessert we got choc. cake from sams and dinner rolls
We served reg. and def coffee and crystal light
We asked ladies we wear hats and we gave door prizes for prettest to cute, to ugly.

We have a small church of 130 and we have about 100 a ladies attend.

We had that theme last year for our banquet. My daughter-in-law, who is also a pastor's wife, was our speaker. Her devotional centered around the many hats that mom's wear. She had a hat for each point that she used as a prop either wearing them or just showing them. It was very effective. For the fun part of our program, we did a skit that one of the ladies wrote about visiting a hat shop. Very funny. We had decorated the front of the sanctuary as a hot shop using antique hats that we had borrowed. We also had special music from my daughter. She sang "The Prayer Warror" which exemplified another hat that a Christian mom should wear. Hope this helps.
