I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a fathers day banquet. our church is thinking of having something this year for the first time. We would also like to include men that aren't fathers to show our appreciation for all the Godly men in our church. we were thinking of having fried chicken and all the fixins'. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

The men at our Church have always had a Father/Son camp out at a members home, but had never recognized Fathers at Church, until last year. We bought inexpensive ink pens with a Christian theme for all the men at Church (maybe Oriental Trading Company catalog?) and we recognized the Fathers in categories - oldest, youngest, most children present. For these we gave the Dads a gift bag (guys usually don't care about baskets) filled with items: a devotional book for Dads, a flashlight, an umbrella, a travel mug, microwave popcorn, a candy bar. We attached scripture to each item that applied, such as letting your light shine, taste and see that the Lord is good, etc. Of course our pastor had a special sermon about Fathers. Hope this helps- Have fun planning!

We are also having our first Father's Day banquet this year. We are having an italian night - spaghetti and the works. This will be open up to ALL males of the church. Last year at our Mother's Day Banquet, the men served and also performed a fashion show (dressed as women). This year at the Father's Day banquet the women will serve and will in turn put on a fashion show (dressed as men). Should be a hoot!

thanks for the ideas everyone. I love the idea of a fashion show dresses as men. We also had a fashion show at our mothers day banquet last year, but I hadn't thought of a fashion show dressed as men this year. that would be hillarious! can you give me some ideas of the fashions you will be modeling? thanks again!

We wanted to do something special for the men of our church this year. We are having a Father/Son Cook Out. Thanks to everyone who shares their ideas. If anyone knows of any icebreaker games, I would love the input.

We are looking for icebreaker games too!! I would appreciate any input too. We have set a theme for ours as Fishers of Men so I was trying to think of something to go along with fishing.
Thanks again! |

Have you ever tired the Donut Hole game?? It is an ice breaker. You divide the group into teams and have each team choose a leader. THe teams are split into halves and positioned on both sides of the room with the leader in the middle. Each leader is given a donut, preferably the sticky one which places on one index finger. At the signal, he crosses back and forth with the donut on the finger, giving team members bites. The winner is the team which had everyone bit the donut, leaving the last donut at the end with the ring intact!!! It is so funny to watch.
For a fishing icebreaker I think that I would get those cheap fish like at the dollar store. Put them in a small pool and provide a pole and have them fish out the fish. Time them. I think it would encourage them to interact together well.
Hope this helps and God Bless!!!
