Me and the ladies in our church would like to give our sanctuary an inexpensive "facelift"....
We are a Baptist church, have the ficus trees, some wreaths between windows; can anyone give me some ideas that we decorate?
thanks....loved the Valentine Banquet ideas!

Hello, Just an idea. My pastor's Hosted a Home Interior Party at our chuch. The Ladies all bought a little something to decorate the church. Also the lady gave us a deal. She gave us a little dicount. So all the money we saved went toward decorating the church. Good Luck Theresa |

Guest,
I am from a small Baptist church too. THis sounds like ours, right down to the ficus trees. I am sparked by your idea. Wondering though, how do you keep people from buying something "tacky" from the party to place in the sanctuary? I'm sure you've been through, or heard of the "fights" we sometimes have concerning the color of the carpet, curtains, pew pads, etc....so, how do you get them all to agree on the night of the party, seeing as they are the ones purchasing the items?
Sounds like a great idea, and if I can keep the bickering out of it, I think we could really accomplish something. I have a friend who sells Home and Garden Party, and it would be beautiful to give our sanctuary a face lift!
Thanks for the help. |

Well i'm not sure what to tell you about the bickering. Maybe you could just post and announce a date. We set a date in the bullentin (gave a few week notice) saturdays are good because most people have the day off. We had a luncheon, we had a few games with little prizes (candles) and then the lady did her presentation. Maybe just have the church host the party, let the memebers buy for thier selves. And just use the profit from the party to buy what youwant for the church. or whoever is in charge of that descion. |

Our Women's group is wanting to update our church also. It looks tired and outdated. We are planning a cookbook. We will gather the recipes, input the data on the computer, print it, bind it and sell them. The proceeds will go toward the decorating of our church. Starting with the Sanctuary.
One of our Sunday school classes did one in 2000. The sold over 250 cookbooks at $10 each. The first 200 cost $5 to have printed. The last 50 cost $6. We can save alot of the profit if we do the work ourselves. We have access to a book binder, and the copier at the church.
Just an idea on how to ake ome money for the decorating project. _________________ I wish you;

| Our church decided to set aside $200 dollars a year to decorate the church. We have floral arrangements for every season that are placed on the front doors, the Communion table, the doors behind the organ and piano, and in front of the baptistry. As far as hanging pictures we don't do. I did decorate my Sunday School Room. And the other Sunday School rooms are decorated according to the teacher. We're a small church and we don't like to put to much decorations up. For Christmas we put up a huge tree, for Easter my dh decorates the front by making a tomb and putting up a cross. I'll have to download my camera to share our Easter pic. Everyone loved it.... the the tomb looked so real. |
