I have been to a few ladies' luncheon things where the lunch was so light and dainty I had to stop at Wendy's on the way home. In one town where we lived for four years, nearly every ladies' function had chicken salad. So when we started doing luncheons (or banquets), I wanted the menu to be filling and saitsfying. One caterer offered two meats (beef and chicken) as well as potatoes, one other vegetable, rolls, and dessert. It was wonderful. But I am almost wondering if that's a bit too "heavy" for a ladies' luncheon/banquet. What do you think? What kinds of food do you have at Mother-Daughter or Spring banquets?

Since I enjoy eating I opt for the substantial menu at our functions.

I would think that a menu of chicken and the other items would not be too heavy. And having a choice of meats is always a nice option.

However, the time of day may make a difference. If the luncheon is earlier in the afternoon (closer to lunch) a lighter or brunch type menu might be more appropriate. If it is later in the afternoon I would definately go for the more substantial menu because that would probably be the main meal for most ladies.

One of my favorite things to serve is lasagna, salad and breadsticks. That way if someone feels lasagna is too much they can eat more salad and less lasagna.

We are having a brunch. Our menu consists of... a bread basket on each table, a fruit cup, a rainbow sandwhich, and a ham/cheese quiche. Our theme is fruits of the Spirit so we are having Cherry delight for dessert. We are using cherries to decorate! (Mary Inglebriet stuff) You can go lighter and still have plenty of food. You don't want people to leave feeling the money they spent on a ticket wasn't worth! They are more apt to not come back the following year!
