|
|
Hi. I am trying to think of a theme for our Valentine's Day Banquet. I want to open it up to everybody, not just couples. We have some widows, divorced, and single ladies. However, I also would like those that are married to bring their husbands and those with kids to bring them. I am looking for a theme that wouldn't sound "couplish" and that everybody would feel comfortable attending.
One thought I had was having our kids group make those cute valentine boxes (out of envelopes or shoeboxes) and then passing them out to the people who come to the banquet. Then everybody would get their own box and either they could bring valentines for everybody or I could supply them for them to fill out and put in the boxes that night. I was thinking that would make it cute and fun for everybody, single or not. When was the last time you got a little valentine?
Any suggestions would help.
Thanks, Katy |

Hi Katylynn -
I don't know if you saw my post about valentines banaquets or not so I am copying here for you. The theme we used worked well for the church body and not just couples. Anyway, here it is:
| Quote: | We did one a couple years ago called "We make beautiful music together." We decorated with red & white & accented w/ black musical notes everywhere. The favors were small musical instruments that we purchased through Oriental Trading Co. We played a few ice breaker games and the meal was catered. Everyone had a blast.
A couple of the games had to do w/ music. We picked several couples to come to the front and the man had to sing "I love you truly" or "Let me call you sweetheart" and then we voted on who did it the most romantic.
We also played "Name that tune" for one of our games. We had a pianist play a few notes of a song & the first one to name the tune won a small prize. If you wanted to have bigger prizes to give away, such as a door prize or secret seat prize, you could give away music CD's - that would go w/ the theme nicely. We were going to have a college student come and serenade us through dinner on his guitar, as he plays fantastically! But that part fell through.
Lord bless - hope your banquet is a huge success! |

I decided on my theme last night for the banquet. It is going to be "Love is..." and I'm going to concentrate on 1 Corinthians 13. I am going to be sure everybody is included by starting with "Love is for everyone"
I am thinking about using the Heart Check-Up from this website and buying little kid stethescopes and passing them out as gifts for everybody.
We are going to have somebody come to take pictures and we won't have many games. Just a relaxing evening to get out of the house.
Thanks for your suggestion. |

John 13:35
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
The theme may be reaching out to your community with the Love of Jesus Christ. _________________ ysiHn&l;

|
|
| We have an annual Sweetheart banquet at our church and I was wondering if anyone knew any games that would be great. We normally group them as Married and Singles. We all have a blast every year and everyone leaves clutching their sides from laughing so hard. The young people really get into it and all pitch in together to rent a limo. But we need some new games, sometimes we take a regular game and change it up to fit the theme. Any suggestions? |
