Hello, I am needing some ideas on a revival ladies day we are having in Feb. We are having a lady from Scotland come and speak and we will be breaking for a light lunch, chicken salad sandwiches on crossiants is what we are thinking or something along those lines..anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on decorating our fellowsihp hall, seving tables and also the dining tables. We usually just use a lattice with decorations and twinkle lights on our little indoor tree plants. I wanted to try something different this year with llimited funds.
I would appreciate anyones input!

Ok, I tend to be a bit weird at times but think about this. How big is your fellowship hall. Is it big enought that, using cheap muslin or bed sheets (White, that you borrow from the congregation) you could turn it into a "Tent" Make it feel like an old time tent revival?......Maybe not.

Another thought might be to decorate with things like bathsalts, oils, beads lotions etc. We all feel "revived" after a good soak. Don't we?

For our upcoming Ladies Banquet we are using Hurricane Lamp globes filled with greenery and flowers inside. We lay them down horizonally...of course you need to glue legs on the bottom of them so they don't roll(or as we have done..have wooden stands to hold them). They make very pretty centerpieces and you can fill them with whatever you desire. For Christmas we filled them with everygreens and poinsetta(fake of course). Put a couple of votive candles on each side and you have it! Also one year we put the mirrow tiles on the tables and set the votive cup and candle in the center. The reflection is pretty. The main table we put a full size door mirror and a large flower centerpiece on it. Hope this helps.

Another thought...Last year our banquet was WOW...Women of Worship, Worth, etc. At Dollar General there are some very elegant victorian looking ceramic ladies. They look almost similiar to the Lladro only they run around $1.00(Lots cheaper than Lladros). I used them for decorations on each table along with artificial roses tied with wire ribbon bows. We used colored napkins and tied them around the silverware with curly ribbon to match our colors. At the end of the banquet each lady got to take one of the little ceramic ladies home with her to help remind her she is a WOW Woman each time she sees her figurine. We also wrapped clear white lights like Christmas lights with netting and draped around the windows. Very pretty.

Just an idea for the lunch. I love the idea of chicken salad sandwiches. That sounds YUMMY!!! I did a conference last year and what I did was. On the registeration form I gave them a choice of Turkey or Ham or Veggie. I put the meat item on a crossiant and one slice of american chesse and one slice of swiss in a ziploc bag. Then in a snack baggie I put the tom, lettuce, and a pickle. Then I added chips, a piece of fruit ( whatever is cheap and in season)
Apples are usually the best way to go., bottled water, a few pieces of choc. and a silverware pack. I found gift bags at Wishing Well for .59 a piece and I filled all the items above in them and then I filled the bags with tissue paper. This was such a big hit. At the beginning of the conference I gave everyone a name tag and on that name tag I put a green star on the people who had Turkey sandwich so at lunch they got a green bag. Gold star for Ham and they got a yellow bag and Blue for Veggie and they got a blue bag. This worked out very well because there was no confusion as to what bag people were to get. I had all the women who signed up to help be there early in the morning to bag everything we stored all the sandwiches in ziploc bags in the refrigator til about 45 minutes til lunch then we went in and filled the gift bags with the veggie bags, and the sandwiches and tissue paper. NOTE: Everything else was already in the bags
