I have done an annual banquet each year for the past four years. Last year the theme was WOW(women of worth, women of worship, women of wealth, women of you name it!!!). This year I am thinking along the lines of LADIES WITH AN ATTITUDE ......OF GRATITUDE! Oprah Winfrey had mentioned several years ago about keeping a journal of thanksgiving. I have done that myself and found it helps to count your blessings. For our banquet I wanted to have a journal for each lady to take home(Dollar General or Family Dollar have some pretty ones for $1.00) There is the saying Complain and Remain...Praise and be Raised. Does anyone have some suggestions for me on this. This is a Spring Banquet which is held to draw the ladies from all over our town together. We also are using it as an outreach for the Womens Shelter. I want each lady to bring something for us to donate to the Shelter such as makeup, clothing, etc. _________________ I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me!!!! Sylvia |

At Thanksgiving I have a small dish each person is given five kernals of corn (This being the daily amount each Pilgrim had to eat at one point) and the dish is passed until each person has placed their kernals of corn in the dish giving one praise or Thanksgiving per.
A variation of this might be for each lady to have one or several flowers at their seat and place one in a vase in the center of the table giving something that they are thankful for. This would keep with your "spring theme" Or I guess seeds could be used as well. I LOVE your journal idea...........Oh, OR you could have them relate their statement of thanksgiving to the item that they are brining for the Woman's Shelter. Baby clothes "I'm thankful for my grand/children" etc........Not a lot of help but maybe it will generate some ideas with someone else (or you) <<grin>> _________________ ysiHn&l;

Hello,
I came on line looking for ideas for a ladies banquet. I love your idea.
I found this poem on the creativeladiesministry website, a while back. I think it goes great with your theme. It is called Blessing Basket-
Fill me up
once a day
write a blessing
so you can say
"Thank you Lord
one blessing more
you've given me
from your rich store."
I recently used the poem with thank you baskets to people who work at our church. I bought small notebooks, typed the poem on the computer, and taped it on to the front of the notebooks. They were around .50 at a discount store. They loved it. You could get small baskets and put the notebook with poem on it for each lady.
God Bless

Ladies, thank you for the suggestions. You both have given me a lot of help. Our banquet isn't until March 9th but that will be here soon. I love the poem. The flower idea is neat too. I have made up some Name tags with a lady on the side and the text "I'm a lady with an ATTITUTDE OF GRATITUDE. I am using the same on business cards for the tickets. I am also planning to have a lady from one of the churches sign for the special singing. Do you by any chance have suggestions of songs Thanks again. _________________ I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me!!!! Sylvia |
