I agree with everyone about the stresses of Christmas robbing our peace and joy. Every years I am involved in Handel's Messiah at our church, among the other 300 or so volunteers. We do five performances, not only singing, but portray the life of Jesus. I always am doubly blessed to see the story of Jesus birth, death and resurrection portrayed year after year, and would encourage anyone to attend a concert of this type at Christmas in your area......He is indead, 'the reason for the season'.

This is months late, but just found this great site!! I too have a problem with christmas.....it seems that every year i am torn about how to celebrate it.. Last month, I found a article that makes sense to me.. it says, and it is true, that we are to celebrate the DEATH of Jesus, not His birth. the Bible doesn't dwell on the birth, but on the death of Him. Altho He DID have to be born, it was to die that he came to earth...Jesus hinself tells us to remember Him through communion..
Just some thoughts...I am still trying to work this out about whether to do Christmas as just secular or spritually. |
