Hi,
I am a Pastor"s wife that really enjoyes our ministry. I need some help.
I was asked to speak at a luncheon for Christmas and am looking for something to share with the elderly at our church,
Last year I did a devotional along with Christmas caroling.
Any new ideas? I really enjoy being with our "Young at Heart" and want them to have something a little different that would lift them spiritually and emotionally.

I was just pondering the christmas star...the light....the light that leads us through the desert....the light of Christ. The light that brings us hope, makes us search for it until we find it, the light that we starve for....the only peace we will have in this world. The light that, no matter the age, we need to be actively seeking, wise enough to find, yet humble enough to obey.

I am not sure if this would be of any help, but last Sunday we had a couple that were worship leaders in the church service and the girl, during the service, talked about christmas and all the hustle and bustle that goes on during christmas and we seem to forget the real meaning of christmas. She talked about how we were celebrating THE KING'S birthday! And somehow we seemed to forget it. She continued on to say that December, our houses look different because it is christmas, but shouldn't our houses look different year round? Because it wasn't an ordinary birth that took place! And now because He lives, we can too! Her challenge to us as well as herself was to make our houses look different (Because of Jesus) all year! I hope that this has maybe given you at least an idea! Good luck! I am sure that whatever you decide if he is in it, he will bless it.

Junebug - I know I am coming in late to this topic and you may have already done your devotion. But there are some VERY good devotional ideas on Julia's home page. I used one the other night for my Christmas Ladies meeting - I used the one about being an "Ornament for Christ" the ladies really seemed to get a blessing out of it and it really spoke to my heart as well.
Anyway - if you already did your devotion - I pray it went well!
