I just wanted to share this with you all, because it blesses my heart every year! There are 2 ladies in our church that take *every* child who walks in the door on a given saturday for the *entire day*!!! They pick a day, advertise it throughout the church, and plan, plan, plan! The kids are 'bussed' from activity to activity--busy all day long--and are totally exhausted by the time they go home! Not only are they busy, but productive! these ladies plan games, crafts for presents for mom and dad, family members, etc..., lunch (sac lunch brought from home), rest, games and more crafts! They enlist the help of the youth group, and I'll tell you, they run *every* child in our church through their doors!
I've been a part of this in the past, and it is amazing how much it is a blessing...so many look forward to this time of carefree shopping!

Not that you have any downtime, but thought it might be do able for next year for some of your churches!

Great idea!
In my current environment----military base with 70%+ of the soldiers deployed------having someone keep the kids is a welcome thing....no matter what they do with that time.
But to allow for holiday shopping is a great plan.
