For our Christmas Dinner Theater, we decided to do the CHRISTmas Nail since this was completely new to each of us. I bought the 4" masonry nails and tried to drill a hole for the hanger cord, but I can't drill it. The drill bit barely makes a mark on the nail.

I was wondering how it is possible to drill the hole so we won't have to glue the hanger on. Any suggestions? Thanks! Nancy

When we made favors using the masonry nails, we attached them to a laminated card (with a message about the nail) done on parchment-paper colored cardstock. We used a large needle to make holes in the cards and then wired on the nails.

Drilling thru a masonry nail would take seriously heavy duty tools. Not sure...but you could ask at a home/hardware store.

Instead of the usual cantata, our choir is performing "Sounds Like Christmas." This has both secular and religious songs but it does contain the Christmas message. It will be done as a dinner theater. We are a fairly small church but we have a chef among us so he's going to prepare quite a feast. The choir will act out the scenes and sing. The youth will be dressed for the live manger scene. My husband is building the set and they are renting professional lighting. We've never done anything like this before and hope and pray that we reach the community in addition to our church members.
I'm in charge of the favors which will be the "Christmas Nail." We're going to buy a cobalt drill bit to see if that will work. We would like for this to be used as a Christmas ornament. Please pray for us as we step out in faith. Thanks! Nancy

Somebody gave me a "store bought" Christmas nail a few years ago. The ribbon for hanging it is actually tied around it just under the head - works perfectly and looks great! Do you have the story that is to be read with it?

We bought the cobalt drill bit and it does drill through the nail. The only problem is trying to get it centered exactly since the bit tends to walk. I may try just tying the ribbon as you suggested. Thanks!

I always make angels for each family who attends our Christmas Eve service so I knew I couldn't do angels. But, I got some neat ideas for future Christmas Eves. Nancy

Hope you find a solution to your walking nails...

With our cards (nails attached) it's just 2.5 by 4 inches (more or less) and we put a hole in the top and tie with raffia so it can be hung on the tree or anywhere in the home.
At another event, we used the masonry nails and tied a scarlet ribbon on them (the red color symbolizing Christ's blood) but since those nails have an indistinct head, the ribbons didn't hold well and we had to resort to a drop of Superglue to get it to work.

LEGEND OF THE CHRISTMAS NAIL
Take a large nail (with a head) and tie a red ribbon around the bottom of head to make a loop to hang it on the Christmas tree. Print the following on a card, roll it into a scroll and attach it to the nail:
“This is the Christmas Nail.
It is to be hung on a sturdy branch,
a branch near the trunk,
a branch that will hold such a spike without
being noticed by well-wishers dropping by
to admire one's tinseled tree.
The nail is known only to the home that hangs it,
understood only by the heart that knows its significance.
It is hung with the thought:
The Christmas tree but foreshadows the Christ tree which only
He could decorate for us by offering us salvation through His crucifixion“

The CHRISTmas Nail
Recently one of the women on the Titus Loop shared that they did a Christmas nail. Now her husband hides the nail on the tree for the children to find.

Dear Friend,

Enclosed is a Christmas Nail. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us not forget that the baby in the manger was God incarnate. That He grew up and taught us of God and His Ways. That for our sins, He suffered and died. For without Easter there would not be a celebration at Christmas!

The nail is painted white to remind us that He was pure and without sin...
1 John 3:5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin.

The tip of the nail is red to remind us that it was because of His shedding of His blood we have forgiveness! Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.

The gold bow is to remind us that our salvation is a gift freely given to us..
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Attached is the receipt of the debt that Christ paid for us! Col 2:14 Having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken ti out of way, having nailed it to the cross.

So hang your nail on your tree this year and remember the gift that Christmas brought!
