We are having an upcoming craft /bake sale to raise money for our church. It is in late November. I know that the US is ahead of our ideas. It takes a few years for ideas to cross over the border. I need some "new HOT" selling ideas for this sale. I am a florist so hopefully this will stand me in good stead to create what you might have suggestions for.
Any thoughts and suggestions would be extremely appreciated!

Try looking in your local craft stores. Although I am not "crafty" my self ( break out in hives......ask my sister) I do know that when an item is big the suppliers stock up. You could ask the clerks. JoAnn's are pretty much nation wide and their clerks are very helpful.

Anything in a canning jar is wonderful! There are sites specifically designed to give you ideas for this. We actually can hot fudge sauce for icecream to sell. It's a hot seller. I can many sizes so there are many prices. Also, Christmas tree skirts, quillows, table runners and hand painted quart jars with a candle in a holder in top. We've also sold a lot of dish soap bottles....these are the empty espresso flavor bottles found at the stand where you buy your morning coffee, washed and stripped of the label. Then, we rub decals on them, spray with a sealer, and add a pouring spout (found at restaurant supply stores, usually $3.00 for 12) and you're set! These have gone for $8.00 each, and sell reall well if you choose popular kitchen themes. The "oddball" ones I still have sitting in my garage.
Of course Snowman Soup is always fun!

I tried this once already, but I don't think it was successful...sorry if this is a double post.
All snowman soup is is hot cocoa mix!
We went to the craft store and bought two different small size baggies...we tried to find ones with a zipper seal on it, but if you can't you can seal them with Christmas stickers.
Inside the small baggie, place one serving of hot cocoa mix. We used prepackaged mix because of the cost of making homemade!
Seal this bag, and place it into the larger bag. (which is smaller than a sandwich size bag...this bag does not have to zip closed). Add one small candycane, marshmallows, and a chocolate candy--we used a treasure. Close the bag, and seal it with a tag that has a snowman on one side (computer clip art, hand drawn, or stamped?) and a poem on the other. I will look for mine so you can use it. The tag is large enough to cover the top of the bag, and provide the seal when it is folded in half over the top. We also folded the bag, to make sure it wouldn't spill out.

Oh, when I did the cost figuring, it came to about .40 per bag. If you have a Costco, Sams, or Cash and Carry, get what you can from there to save money. These tend to sell best if they're under .75....this idea can also be taken "up a notch" to use an Emeril term....and be put into a canning jar for a family size batch! Adding a bit of cinnamon makes it Mexican Hot Cocoa.

What I have been making up are sugar and spice wreaths, garlands,swags, table centers and mini Christmas trees, orange peel toparies, and coffee bean pyramid mantle peices. The sugar and spice vertical stacking garlands use pinecones. bay leaves, cotton print rag ties and bows,assorted nuts and raffia.
Does any one have other recipes as well that sell well at a craft and bake sale?

You can make an inexpensive candy jar for christmas. Use glass ivy bowls from craft stores (99 cents each). Cut Christmas colored tissue paper (the kind you use for gift bags) into one inch strips. Layer the inside of bowl with a colored tissue strip, glue it in place with elmers glue (dries clear!) on one of those sponge paintbrushes. Alternate different colored strips (gold/red, green/red, silver/blue, etc) in the bowl until entire inside of bowl is covered. Cut off, or tear, the tops so they just reach the top of jar. Allow to dry completly (1-2 days) Use cordinating colored cloth ribbon to tie around top of ivy bowl. Fill with small christmas candy (red and green m&m;'s, gold or silver bells, kisses) or sell empty. Keep in mind they look ugly till the glue dries, but once its dry they are very pretty. I made a bunch of these to give to each of the pastors families at church. They were a big hit!

This sounds like an interesting craft. Could kids do it or would it be too hard and messy? Also I am not real sure what an ivy bowl is.
Could you use metallic ribbon or does it have to be tissue paper?

If you have a Dollar General Store near you, they have snowmen jars and santa jars that are clear and have a hat that is the lid. We put hot chocolate mix in the jars and for the hat added marshmallows. Tie a Christmas ribbon around the rim of the hat and add instructions on a card tied to the ribbon of how to make it. We have also done spice tea in them with the lid filled with red hots. It is a cute gift and we sold them for around $5.00. They make cute gifts for school teachers also.

Sorry, thought of another project that is cute. We took dish towels and folded them accordian style. Fold them over in half and put a rubber band down about two inches to make a head for an angel. For the arms use the dish cloth rolled in a long tube style, hot glue in the middle to the back of the angel and bring arms around to front and tie with ribbons. You can glue on a small flower or pretty button. For the wings take a hot pad and put a rubber band around the middle tightly and hot glue to the back over the arm section. Tie ribbons around the neck. Use the loop on the hot pad to hang the angel. Hope this makes sense. It is really cute and sells very quickly. I have hung this on my mothers door at Christmas at the Nursing home and it is a good little decoration for there as well.
