Our church is changing directions a little this year. Normally we have a Christmas banquet with sit-down dinner. This year we are having a Christmas Party. This party will be held in someone's home and we will have appetizers and finger foods.
My question - Are there any games that would work in this type of setting. It will be a larger group (60-70) and we will be spread out throughout several rooms in the house.
Any ideas for ways to successfully organize any type of game? Or any other suggestions?

Christmas carol Win, Lose or Draw is one we've played at our Christmas caroling party. We've also played Christmas Family Feud.

A white elephant is always fun! We've done this in the past, and the funniest things get passed around!
We now host an auction, with one wrapped gift that is auctioned at the end (after the unwrapped items are auctioned off). The person who purchased it last year is obligated to bring it the next year. This is a hoot! We raise money for a family to have Christmas, or for the Domestic Violence house down the block. This has been going on for almost 50 years! Everyone who wants to brings an item they've made or purchased to auction off. Usually handmade items sell for the most...and we spend the evening eating and buying! We do this in a home so we don't bend/break any rules, or offend anyone.
I hope you have fun! I also hope you have a home large enough to fit everyone!

Thanks for the idea Corri. Wow, to keep something going for almost 50 years!!!!
Fortunately we do have use of a home that will be large enough. The mother of a church member has a beautiful home on a lake. She loves to entertain and is willing to open her home to us. In the past she has opened her yard to us as well. In fact, in two weeks we will be having a Fall Fellowship on her lake. We are very grateful to have use of her facilities.
Still gathering ideas. I'm just not sure about how to organize any type of game in this "informal" setting. I'm thinking maybe I could get different games going in different rooms. I really appreciate the input.

Here's a fun one you could do with the whole group or you could break into little groups.

Take a gift (can be a simple box of Christmas chocolates or anything)
wrap it. put a tag on it that says "Merry Christmsa"
wrap it again,,,,,,,,
and again,,,,,,
and again,,,,,,
in between some wrappings put notes like "What is your favorite thing to do at Christmas?" or "Sing us your favorite Christmas carol" or "tell us about your best Christmas" or "share with us a Christmas tradition in your family" or "What is your most memorable Christmas"
get the idea?

anyway, you can have this wrapped as many times as you want....
then you play like "Hot Potato"
we usually have someone at the piano playing Christmas carols, but if you are in small groups a tape of music will do,,,,,
when the music stops the person holding the gift opens ONE LAYER....
(They don't know it's layered, they think they are getting the gift)
eventually they will get the hang of it. The last person of course, the one that says "Merry Christmas" gets to keep the gift.

It's fun. Makes for lots of laughs. I have done this with seniors, ladies, youth and even in the childrens department. You make up your own questions, so there's really no limits.
