Do you think it's ok for family members to be ministers in the same church? (ie-father sr pastor, son/nephew assosiate pastor)

My husband, his father, and one of his brother's are pastors (not all at the same church). His 20 year old nephew just surrendered to the ministry. We prayed about it and felt the Lord leading our church to call him for his first staff position-youth ministy. He just seems so young and nervous and it's his first time away from home. He's waiting a year to go to college. Anyway, just keep him and our youth group in your prayers-I know he's got a willing heart; I just pray that he won't let Satan get in there with doubts and fears.

Also-our church has started a hispanic service in the afternoon after much prayer-we know it's God's will, but we've had the services for almost 4 weeks now, and no spanish speaking people have come yet. It's such a need in our small community, but how many weeks do you pay a preacher to drive 40 miles every week to show up to no one?

I believe a minister should serve where and when GOD calls him. That is the only place and the only time. I don't know that it would matter if they were in the same family IF they knew they were called there by GOD. The whole thing boils down to GOD, He knows who is family and if He calls them to the same place at the same time, then I guess it's ok. I don't believe it has anything to do with pay.
As far as the Spanish services, I think it's a great thing you are doing. Maybe you should have some committment from attenders before you start? (But that's too late now isn't it?) Keep it in prayer. If you know it's God, it will work. My concern here would be the minister being 40 miles away. I believe if you are on the field, you should be ON the field. My husband pastored a church where we lived 30 miles away and it was very tough. Visitation was almost impossible (he also worked full time in a factory) and when someone needed him RIGHT NOW, it couldn't happen, he knew he had at least a 1/2 hr. drive. Which goes back to the first part, where GOD calls....I'm not so sure we were supposed to be there, and we left after one short year. Learned alot, so it was not in vain and the experience was good.
Hope this helps.
