    At Rainbow's End
    Womens Ministry Theme

    This theme concentrates on the
    Promises of God revolving
    around a Noah's Ark Theme.

      Alternative Theme Titles:
    • Strength Through God's Promises
    • Standing on the Promises
    • Holding on to God's Promises
    • Precious Promises
    • Garden of Promises - If you'd like the same theme emphasis of "promises" but don't want to use the Noah's Ark decorating scheme, use a gardening one instead. You'll find garden decorating suggestions in the "Seeds of Kindness" Theme)

      Theme Verse Suggestions:
    • "I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth."  Genesis 9:13
    • "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:"  2 Peter 1:4

      Devotional:
    • No Devotional Suggested. See the Devotional Index for ideas.
    • Study Suggestions:  The Promises of God, Blessings, The Life of Noah

      Decorating Suggestions:

      Color Scheme
Rainbow colors of course! You can go either way on the color wheel, either dark or light.

      General Decorations
Decorate with Noah's Ark items. You'll find Related Noah's Ark Party and Entertaining Ideas here.  In The Ark
These are mostly for kids but some could be adjusted to adults. Use kid's coloring pages of Noah's Ark to make patterns for muriels.

      For The Tables
    • Use some Noah's Ark Crafts or Knick Knacks to add to your tables.
    • Some small arrangements in some small old world or old pottery looking vases or bowls with flowers in your rainbow colors. Put several flowers of one color in each vase.
    • Try covering your tables with different rainbow colors for each table.

      Focal Point
      Build An Ark
    • Okay, maybe not a whole ark out of gopher wood, but you could make a place to set up a resemblance of the inside of the ark.
    • Use some large pieces of plywood to lay down on the floor with a little bit of straw scattered about.
    • A wooden trough or manger with straw could be added.
    • Use some large burlap bags to sit around for animal food. You can get burlap from the craft department and make your own feed bags. You can stuff with anything. Stencil "Animal Feed" on the outside of the bags in big letters.
    • Use some large baskets filled with grain. You don't actually have to fill the whole basket with grain. You may want to stuff the bottom with something and just use a layer of grain (feed corn) on top.
    • Add hand painted wooden animals or stuffed animals. You could draw animals on a mural. Remember to put two of each.

      Large Rainbow
    • You could do this on a mural or if you would like one to hang up somewhere, use a large piece of styrofoam insulation board and paint a large rainbow on it.
    • You could do one on plywood but the syrofoam insulation board is a lot lighter in weight if you need to hang it.

      Games and Ice-breakers:
      Two By Two
Each lady should receive a card with an animal on it, and either a sound (moo, oink, meow) that they have to do, or a motion (laughing for a hyena, hopping for a kangaroo, etc.) and they have to make their sound/motion and find the other lady doing the same thing (two by two).

Thanks to one of our visitors for sending in the above Two By Two idea. Thanks Laura!

      Promises Pot
Have a "pot" (a large brass vase would work). Set the pot at the end of a rainbow (See the "Focal Point" above for rainbow ideas). Fill the pot with index cards with promise verses and have each lady pick one up as she comes in. Throughout your event call on different ladies to share the promise of God from the card they selected.

      You'll find Ice Breakers here.

      Music:
    • "Standing on the Promises"
    • Arky, Arky Song (lyrics at Kididdle.com)

      Favors:
    • Biscuit Cutter/Recipe Card:
Find a good biscuit recipe and make up on nice recipe cards.
Tie a biscut cutter to the card with ribbon.
    • Miniature Jelly Jars
Use miniature jelly or canning jars. Fill with your choice of jelly or apple butter. Make circle jar covers out of country prints and pink the edges. Place on a label with your event information and tie up with raffia or ribbons.

      Just For Fun:
      Treat For Overnight Retreats:
An idea for a treat could be a box of animal crackers placed on the beds of your ladies, or maybe even a beanie baby animal if you could find them at a reasonable price.

Thanks to one of our visitors for sending in the above Treat idea. Thanks Laura!

      Doorprizes:
    • Anything with a Noah's Ark or Rainbow Theme.
Since Noah's Ark Collectibles are so popular, you will probably be able to find lots of goodies from anything from dish towels on up to lamps with a Noah's Ark theme.
    • Check your local Christian Bookstore. They usually have a lot of Noah's ark and rainbow related items.
    • Book on the Promises of God
    • A "Pair" of Stuffed Animals
    • Large Bag of Animal Crackers (Tied up with ribbon and large bow)

More suitable gifts for ladies on the Door prize page

      Skits:
    • The prayer a Jabez: Claiming promises of Go(from Bob Snook)

      See the CLM Skit Links

      Food Suggestions:
    • This would be a great theme to serve lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. Leafy platters of grapes and cheese, etc.
    • Set out a tray of animal crackers, raisins, and dried fruit.
