Jar Recipes - Gifts In A Jar

Jar Recipes make wonderful gifts at the holidays or anytime of year. Most of these require a quart wide mouth canning jar, though bear in mind that you must press down each layer to get all of your ingredients to fit properly.

Many of these recipes can be layered for that great looking effect or you can mix the ingredients. It depends how much effort you want to put into them and also if the ingredients have enough different colors and textures to look good as layers.

The tops can be decorated in a variety of ways. Try using novelty fabric to make circle jar covers with the edges done with pinking shears. (Use a round plastic lid to make a pattern). You can find novelty fabrics in country themes and holiday and bithday themes as well. Place them over the jar lid and tie them on with twine, ribbon, or raffia.

Print the recipe on a label for the front of the jar or even place it and the directions on a hang tag.
